Local businessman Paul Wilson has fulfilled his commitment to support affordable housing in Haliburton County. Through his company Harburn Holdings, Wilson made the donation of close to half a million dollars to Places for People.
The cheque was presented to P4P President Susan Tromanhauser along with Founder Fay Martin and Interim Executive Director Marc Beisheim this past week.
Wilson who owns Harburn Holdings, has a reputation of being a generous philanthropic community supporter and his commitment to affordable housing is unwavering. The cheque was given to P4P as part of a memo of understanding with Habitat For Humanity Peterborough and Kawartha Region to purchase units here in Haliburton.
"I decided to advance the timing of this donation to allow Places for People to put this money to work now towards building up their financial capacity. My hope is this will inspire others to come to the table, " Mr. Wilson said. “Affordable housing is a critical piece of the puzzle to the future economic success of Haliburton County.”
Susan Tromanhauser says “Paul's commitment to affordable housing has been exceptional. His trust in Places for People as stewards of this substantial donation is extremely energizing for our organization. This donation allows us to continue providing much needed housing for the people who live and work in Haliburton County.”
