Our properties

Twelve units across Haliburton County

Since 2010 Places for People has housed 24 families, consisting of 37 adults and 54 children. Of our previous tenants, seven of the families have moved on to home ownership. We currently own and manage 12 units across Haliburton County with units in each of the four townships and are planning a new, multi-unit build of one- and two-bedroom units as this is where Haliburton County is seeing the greatest demand for housing.

Volunteer

How you can make a difference

Places for People relies on volunteer labour to maintain its properties and grow the Organization. There are a variety of jobs for volunteers and we are always looking for more people to help.

Join the board or a committee

In addition to our Board of Directors, volunteers are needed for committees made up of Board members and community volunteers:

Places for People is a Not for Profit organization. Without volunteers, we would not be able to do the work we do across Haliburton County. If you are interested in helping us, please contact us by emailing info@placesforpeople.ca.

Apply

How to apply for housing with Places for People

Places for People currently owns and manages 7 units across Haliburton County for those that require a rent subsidy. Tenants for these homes are selected through the central waitlist with the City of Kawartha Lakes.  You can apply to be on this wait list online.

Applicants requiring a rent subsidy will be contacted in order as they appear on the wait list.  Once contacted, you will be told the next steps in the application process.

Places for People also owns and manages 5 units for those who do not require a rent subsidy. We do not maintain a wait list on these units as these units rarely become available. If one of these units does become available it will be advertised in the local papers and on social media.
