Sleeping in Cars: One Night. One Community. One Big Impact.

What happens when a community comes together with intention, heart, and a little creativity?

Change happens

Sleeping in Cars is a powerful—and yes, even fun—way to stand in solidarity with neighbours in our community who are experiencing housing insecurity. On March 27th, community members will come together at Head Lake Park to spend one night sleeping in their cars in support of affordable housing in Haliburton County.

For one night, participants choose to step outside their comfort zone to better understand the reality many people face every day. It’s not about hardship for hardship’s sake—it’s about empathy, awareness, and action.

And it’s about doing it together

This event is filled with community spirit: teams laughing together, individuals stepping up, families getting involved, and local businesses showing their support. It’s intentional, meaningful, and rooted in a shared belief that housing solutions are stronger when they’re built by the community, for the community.

Across Haliburton County, safe and affordable housing is becoming harder to find. Sleeping in Cars brings us together to tackle this challenge in a way that builds connection, raises awareness, and directly supports Places for People’s work creating and managing quality affordable rental homes.
